Police Report – December 2019

The December 2019 report is available here

If you are on the receiving end of domestic abuse this Christmas, you can get help.

North Yorkshire Community Safety Partnership and local agencies are working together to raise awareness of the support available for victims of Domestic Abuse.

Approximately one quarter of all women and one sixth of all men encounter some form of Domestic Abuse within their lives and only half of these incidents are ever reported to the Police.

Over the last few years we have seen incidents emerging from families who, prior to the economic downturn would have gone their separate ways, however because of falling house prices, the difficulties in obtaining mortgages and both or one of the parties losing employment has meant couples and families are forced to live together due to the economic climate.

Children are often the forgotten victims, witnessing violence and abuse has a damaging and lasting effect on children.  Children learn behaviour from a very early age and this is often transferred later in their own relationships.
